Global Movement Urges UN to put Communities and Civil Society at the heart of AMR response
A global movement of communities, health professionals, and indigenous peoples is calling for urgent action against antibiotic-resistant bacteria and Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR). ReAct and the Pan American Health Organization have facilitated the gathering of requests from these groups. The movement launched a campaign called “From People to Leaders: Act on AMR NOW!” to press world leaders to take action and recognize the role of communities and civil society in the global response. The campaign is targeting the UN General Assembly High-Level Meeting on AMR in New York in September. The campaign emphasizes the importance of AMR policies and programs based on public participation and global solidarity for an effective and holistic response.
